  • Staying Safe on the Internet

As you all may have heard, the world experienced the biggest cyber-attack in history, a ransomware called WannaCry.
With many homes and companies affected by this attacked, including large businesses including the NHS and Renault, it makes us think how vulnerable we are on the internet.
Ransomware can take over your computer screen, displaying a ransom of anything in-between £100-10,000. Remember, we would never have to give money out to keep our files and through statistics, it shows 1 In 4 people who paid the ransom never recovered their data anyways.

We’re here to give Top 5 Tips on how to keep safe while surfing the internet.

    1. Always make a backup

It’s the number one principle of all computers, yet we like to forget how important backing up our files is. The simple and easy process can save you a lot of time and trouble if anything with your computer goes wrong.
There are many data saving programs, including OneDrive and the Cloud but if you want something that can be disconnected from the computer, USB passports are a lifesavers when it comes to backing up your files.

With some passports coming with 1 Terabit of data, you can store your life’s content on the small device.

    2. Clear your browser

Make sure you keep your browser and cookies clear to prevent any malware on your PC.

Getting into the habit of clearing down your browser every time you log off can help you with protecting your computer in the long run and also help it run more smoothly.

    3. Add a protection programme onto your computer

There are many programmes such as Norton, AVG, McAFEE and BullGuard that can help add defences onto your computer. With so many available, the hardest part is choosing one. They include subscriptions lasting for 1 year and also coming in deals for multi-devices, making it really worth the extra cost to keep your electronics safe.

    4. Get your settings correct

When we first start using a computer, it’s mostly set up for you, with options in your browser already selected.
Not always do they choose the most preferred settings and you have the opportunity to change them as many times as you’d like. Simply go into settings on any browser: Firefox, Chrome, Explorer and have a look through the Privacy and General setting. Change things like: having to be asked permission for downloads, choosing which folder files get saved to, allowing automatic updates. This way, you get to choose if you want something downloaded or updated and can click no if it raises suspicion.

    5. Viruses come in any shape or form

Remember viruses and ransomware come in any shape and form so don’t be so easily fooled. Most malware is activated through phishing emails with some looking realistic and using full names. Be careful when opening new emails. Check the sender email, it usually looks suspicious. Unsubscribe from spam emails to limit what comes into your inbox. Don’t open any links or attachments in emails, malware can be disguised in any form.

  • Getting the Garden Summer Ready

When you think of summer, what first pops into mind? The hot sun, seaside weekends, the ice-cream van?

For us it’s the perfect time to get into the summer garden and explore the options of transforming the outdoors into a place of its own.

Gardening leads to a healthy way of life, getting your creative thinking flowing and keeping fit.

    First Time Gardening

If you’re just a beginner in the gardening department, we have just the ticket.

Our ‘grow your own’ plant kits are great for first time gardening and little hands that love to get down in dirt.
The seeding kits are a simple plant pot. Choose from 4 colours in a shape of a Wellington boot or a watering can. Just give the pot some water and love and you should see the chosen flower start to sprout. Introduce these decorative plant pots into your garden or let them adorn your windowsills, where they can add a dash of colour and still get enough sunlight.

    Step by Step Decorating

Edge work and flower patches are the must-have to make your summer garden stand out from the rest. Have fun deciding on all the different plants and flowers you want to line around your garden, while giving an enlarging effect.

Our decorative stepping stones can create a pathway design to dot all around your lawn. Give a bit of embellishment under arches, by doorways and around ponds with the fancy stepping stones.

The delicate stone work is for decorative purposes only and we would not advise standing on the stones.

    Fountain Features

If your hands are greener than grass, it’s time to step your garden up a notch with water fountains.
Give your ponds and pools a regal look with a flowing fountain in the middle. They create an interesting feature that just can’t be replicated.
The solar powered fountains are the ideal option with the summer sun, for an instant stream of water. There are low voltage mains powered fountains available to produce an all year round feature. Or choose the backup battery to guarantee working time in the shining sun.
Incorporate the water pump into ponds, waterfalls and ornamental fountains to really impress your guests. The barrel fountain adds a professional, vintage styled feature that can be set up in a matter of minutes.
