Why choose a Solar Charge Controller?

Why choose a Solar Charge Controller?

If you’ve been looking to invest in a solar panel or you already have one, you’ve probably heard of a solar charge controller. (Also known as a charge regulator.)

These small devices do wonderful things to aid the solar panel and battery supply. From preventing over charging to stopping reverse currents and the battery from draining.
Most solar panels come with diodes which can prevent reverse current. The charge controller can protect your solar system.

Prevention of overcharging

Once the battery is charged, it will automatically cut off the input. This will save any damage to the battery from over charging.

Reverse Currents

Once the battery is charged, it will automatically cut off the input. This will save any damage to the battery from over charging.

Battery Regulator

The controller can detect changes in the battery as well as the solar panel. If the battery voltage is too low, the controller will disconnect the load from the battery. By disconnecting, it prevents the battery from being fully drained, which will prolong the battery life.

We always recommend a charge controller with any solar panel 15W and above.
