Illuminated Shipping Container Displays for HMM's Conference Season

The Challenge

HMM, a global containership ocean carrier, came to us with a very specific brief. Rather than standard banners or pop-up stands, their marketing team wanted branded display pieces that actually looked like their shipping containers. The vision was to create something immediately recognisable to anyone in the logistics and shipping industry - displays that could be stacked and rearranged to suit different conference layouts.

Finding a product that could be customised to this level of detail was the real challenge. The displays needed to be rectangular, reasonably lightweight, and striking enough to hold their own in a busy exhibition hall.

Why Lightboxes?

The rectangular shape mirrored the look of a real container, and the edge-to-edge printing meant the design could be applied fully across every surface. The company logo runs along the long sides, with a container door graphic printed on each end.

From Concept to Reality

The enquiry came through our website, and our design team got the mock-up designs ready the same day. From there, it was a quick process to get the graphics exactly right - particularly the container door detail on the end panels, which the client had clear ideas about, and we were able to create exactly what they had in mind.

Once the final design was approved and payment was confirmed, production began. The benches were despatched within our standard lead time and arrived comfortably before the deadline. A few months later, when a second batch was needed for another event, the reorder was placed and turned around just as efficiently.

The Impact

At trade shows and conferences, stands can quickly start to look the same. Having displays that are unmistakably tied to what you actually do is a real advantage. For a shipping company, container-shaped light-up displays make the brand message completely self-evident - no explanatory copy required.

The ability to stack and rearrange the benches gave the team genuine flexibility. They could build a full stack for a larger event, or spread them out individually for a smaller one. With the internal lighting glowing through the printed design, the displays drew attention even in brightly lit exhibition environments.
